Maharam Fabric Programs From Brief to Verified Trial

Performance textiles earn approval through specific decisions: which construction, which exposure, which specimen and which endpoint. Our service path keeps those decisions visible through sampling and production review.

Four services, four distinct records

01

Application intake

Document seating geometry, contact frequency, indoor or covered-outdoor exposure, cleaning products, seam construction and substrate. This context determines whether appearance, abrasion, colorfastness, moisture, dimensional stability or adhesion belongs in the trial.

02

Sample architecture

Separate memo swatches for color selection from yardage for fabrication and conditioned specimens for laboratory testing. Each sample carries material reference, color, finish, lot when available and a defined review purpose.

03

Method mapping

Translate broad requests into named procedures. Martindale and Wyzenbeek abrasion use different motions and endpoints; wet crocking differs from dry; cleaning compatibility requires the actual agent, concentration, dwell time and repetition.

04

Change control

Record revisions to fiber, yarn, weave, dye route, finish, backing or process. Existing evidence is reviewed for continued relevance rather than transferred automatically to a changed construction.

Healthcare seating fabric cleaner trial

Scenario 01

Healthcare seating: cleaner exposure before color approval

Background: A seating program may specify frequent wipe-down with several active chemistries. A visual swatch cannot show repeated exposure response. Process: The team records the cleaner, dilution, dwell time, wipe material, repetition and visual or instrument endpoint, then tests the exact color and finish. Outcome: The decision record distinguishes initial appearance acceptance from compatibility evidence and flags any assembly-level work still required.

Scenario 02

Hospitality upholstery: abrasion without a universal service-life claim

Background: Dining, lounge and guest-room seating concentrate wear differently. Process: The brief connects seat geometry and seam placement to a named abrasion method, endpoint, pilling review and cleaning cycle. Fabrication yardage is evaluated on the intended foam and sewing construction. Outcome: Procurement receives comparable test conditions and a bounded result instead of converting laboratory cycles into an unsupported number of field years.
